Design Manager

This position drives all aspects of the design team’s work, particularly with respect to the delivery of multiple design documentation packages and construction cost estimates, to a high level of quality and according to the strategic program.

Responsibilities:

In compliance with client’s standards and statutory regulations,

  • Under direction lead a multi-disciplinary building related design team
  • Liaise with client engineering lead, agree on project scope, timelines and deliverable
  • Drive value engineering, value addition and total cost of ownership activities
  • Setup design documentation procedure and manuals for the design team, monitor and update
  • Determine stakeholder needs by critically analysing the project brief
  • Coordinate a range of building industry consultants to expedite the development of appropriate design solutions and documentation packages compliant with statutory regulations and client’s design standards
  • Follow procedures to ensure that a high quality standard is maintained in all documentation
  • Ensure all regulations and HSSE requirements are met
  • Overview the estimation of project construction costs
  • Lead lessons learned processes to develop design and cost improvement concepts
  • Liaise with consultants with respect to permit processes
  • Carry out administrative duties associated with the design and documentation process
  • Liaise with the Program Manager to achieve handover of documentation in accordance with the project programme
  • Other duties as requested by Design Head/Programme Manager

This positions reports to the Design Head and will have contact with:

  • Client representatives
  • Professional consultants
  • Meinhardt personnel
  • External contractors
  • External stakeholders

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Team player
  • Potential to act design manager for retail petrol design development
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Attentive to details
  • Initiative and enthusiasm

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of retail design and preferably retail petrol station design
  • Significant experience in recognising and critically analysing client requirements
  • Sound knowledge of architectural and engineering design methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of the building industry in India
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in AutoCAD and windows based programmes
  • Computer literary with proficiency in Windows based applications
  • Proven ability to multi-task (multiple projects simultaneously)
  • Proven ability to lead and direct the work of others

Professional qualifications & experience:

  • Engineering, architectural or comparable degree
  • Extensive technical knowledge or architectural and engineering construction works
  • Extensive experience in documentation production and coordination of architectural and engineering services
  • Experience in detail resolution
  • Experience in design of service stations
  • Experience in design and documentation for hazardous situations

Tenure: 2+2 years based in Bangalore
