Resident Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform the duties of the Resident Engineer on-site
  • Act as primary point of contact for the construction supervision of the project between the contractor, client and consultant team
  • Project progress reporting
  • Quality control and design modifications
  • Place an emphasis on safe construction practices (zero incident) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Lead by example in driving safe practices on-site
  • Establish an appropriate working relationship with the contractor
  • Build a trusted relationship with the client and consultant team
  • Use effective project management and control systems to regularly report on progress to the Client
  • Monitor progress of construction against the programme and take steps to avoid delay
  • Establish and enforce effective project quality procedures
  • Identify, manage and report project risks
  • Evaluate, select and adapt construction management and control techniques, procedures and criteria to suit job tasks and devices and implement solutions to problems encountered
  • Manage software and systems required for the administration of the project construction supervision

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Degree Qualification in Civil Engineering – MQF Level 6 or equivalent
  • Excellent proficiency in communication in English, including both verbal and written English
  • 10 years in a major civil engineering / infrastructural / tunneling works related to management and/or supervision of major civil engineering and/or infrastructural and/or tunneling projects
  • Leading role in the last 5 years as Resident or Site Engineer in at least 1 major tunneling project worth over €50 Million

  • Contribution and effort is aligned to organisational objectives
  • Comply with all company HSSE systems and procedures relevant to the role, in accordance with local documented HSSE responsibilities. No work related injuries, illnesses or adverse environmental outcomes due to incorrect or inadequate application of systems or procedures
  • Participate in performance development discussions with manager initiating and managing own personal development with all CPD requirements met
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively willingly accepting share of workload and helping others when required
