Denis Young leads the mining and resources team, which covers projects from coal to oil to gas.
The team looks at both the big picture approach, considering planning, infrastructure and environmental needs, as well as the detailed design of the facilities themselves.
Denis’ specific expertise is in the structural engineering design of buildings covering commercial, residential, industrial, hotels and clubs, hospitals and education facilities.
Ir. Dr. Lim Boon Tiong
Dr. Lim is a Managing Director with Meinhardt with over 15 years of experience in the design civil and structural engineering and building works. Dr. Lim has worked in Singapore, Taiwan, China and for the last seven years in Malaysia, where he is a Registered Professional Engineer. Dr. Lim’s experience includes major building, road works, viaducts, geotechnical/slope works, drainage, sewerage, water supply and reclamations works.
Dr. Lim has led building works in Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, University Technology Petronas, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and UEM Headquarter. These projects have involved dredging, contaminated materials, seabed improvements, drained and fully dredged reclamation, various seawall types, piers and wharves. Infrastructure rail planning and design projects have included highway, bridges (e.g. Rumsey Street Flyover Extension and Lok Ma Chau –Huanggang Link) and tunnel works, land formations and railway stations and links (e.g. Shatin Central Link and Lok Ma Chau Spur Line and the Castle Peak ‘B’ Power Station). Tunnels include cut & cover (Airport Railway Central Overrun Tunnel, Jubilee Street Underpass Central-Wanchai Bypass), rock and immersed tube (Tai Lam, Sha Tin Central Link). Servicing experience includes stormwater drainage, sewerage, water supply and utilities on many projects and sewage treatment (Hei Ling Chau).
As a founding Director of the London Office and now Managing Director of Meinhardt UK, David’s key responsibility is to work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and manage the overall performance of the Meinhardt UK Office. He is also the principal point of contact to the Meinhardt Group and its international offices. David is still an engineer at heart and, in line with the companies core values, enjoys taking an active involvement in all major projects.
David is a chartered civil & structural engineer with over 30 years’ experience in engineering consultancy. He enjoys exploring ways in which this knowledge can be coupled with the latest technology to improve delivery and quality. He also has practical experience in the construction sector gained working for a major building contractor, which means his approach is to deliver solutions that are both practical and buildable as well as appropriately innovative.
David has considerable experience on a broad range of interesting projects both in the UK and overseas and has developed particular expertise in the aviation, commercial office, hotel, retail and mixed-use residential sectors.
Onur Gulec is the Country Director for Istanbul office. He joined in May 2012 when his firm (Onur Gulec Proje) was acquired by Meinhardt Group.
He has garnered extensive design experience during his decade-long tenure at Leslie E. Robertson Associates, RLLP, a world-renowned structural engineering firm in New York, where he was a Senior Associate. During his career with LERA, he supervised the structural design of a wide spectrum of projects ranging from high-rise buildings, to residential and mixed-use developments such as Bitexco Financial Tower (Vietnam), John Jay Criminal Justice Expansion (New York, USA), W.J. Clinton Presidential Library (Arkansas, USA), Shanghai World Financial Center (Shanghai, PRC), AIG Tower (Hong Kong), Cooper Square Hotel (New York, USA) and the Port Authority Bus Terminal Seismic Upgrade (New York, USA).
In March 2008, he relocated to Istanbul to start his own practice – Onur Gulec Proje – and grew the business and staff strength to more than 20 employees. Some of the major projects at OGP include Seyrantepe Çintemani Tower (Istanbul), Qatar Education City Convention Center (Doha), Seyrantepe Rings Istanbul Development, Government Palace (Oyala, Equatorial Guinea) and Abu Dhabi Plaza Tower (Astana, Kazakhstan).
John is originally from South Australia. He has lived in Thailand since 1995. He has 20 years of experience working as a Professional Engineer and is also one of Meinhardt’s engineering team leaders and is responsible for structural engineering design and management of some of their largest projects. He has specialist expertise in the design of high-rise buildings and steel structures.
